Dennis Fryar is a hydrogeologist with specialized experience in the fields of quantitative hydrogeology and geophysics. He has 21 years of experience in the development and application of numerical models to investigate groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport. To accomplish this work, he has employed a variety of numerical codes including MODFLOW, SWIFT-II, TOUGH2, FACT, GEOSIM, MODPATH, MT3D, and MT3DMS. He is also experienced with the Groundwater Vistas and PMWIN groundwater modeling systems. Mr. Fryar has performed groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling investigations in support of environmental restoration activities at U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense facilities. These investigations have focused on providing the information needed to guide site characterization efforts, evaluate various remedial alternatives, and optimize existing soil and groundwater remedial systems. He has also conducted modeling studies to support water resource management programs. Mr. Fryar has played a key role in the development of several regional-scale groundwater availability models for major and minor aquifers in Texas. His experience on these projects includes developing geologic conceptual models, developing and calibrating steady-state and transient numerical models, performing full-scale sensitivity analyses and predictive model runs over 50-year planning periods, and participating in public stakeholder advisory forums to solicit input and feedback on the models. He has also applied his modeling expertise to assist in obtaining environmental permits and licenses from regulatory agencies. This includes modeling efforts to evaluate the potential radiological impacts of airborne emissions from a uranium processing facility and flow and transport modeling to support a license application for a commercial low-level radioactive waste disposal facility. Mr. Fryar’s experience includes software development, testing, documentation, and user support. He is familiar with FORTRAN, C, and C++ programming languages. He has worked on software development teams responsible for developing new seismic imaging and noise attenuation software, and has tested and evaluated newly developed seismic processing algorithms, prepared user documentation, and provided user support.
