INTERA’s Dr. Bryn Kimball, Geochemist, and Patrick Williamson, PG, Principal Hydrogeologist, will be presenting their respective papers at the Tailings and Mine Waste (T&MW) Conference in Vancouver BC, held on November 17-20, 2019. Dr. Kimball’s paper, entitled Micrometer-Scale Characterization of Solid Mine Waste Aids in Closure Due Diligence, focuses on a case study that compares the use of both traditional and nontraditional techniques to identify and quantify metal hosts in sediments downstream of the abandoned mine waste piles at the Ely Copper Mine Superfund site in Vermont. Mr. Williamson’s paper, entitled Baseline Investigations and Preliminary Design for an In-Pit Tailings Storage Facility, El Gallo Mine, Sinaloa, covers details of the recent feasibility study for an in-pit tailing storage facility at the El Gallo gold mine, located in the foothills of the Cordillera Sierra Madre.
