A 37-year veteran of the energy and mining industry, Malone served as the past chairman and president of BP America Inc., at the time the largest U.S. producer of oil and natural gas. “The nexus between energy, water and the environment continues to be at the forefront these days as all too often securing energy resources depends on managing water resources as well.  With Bob’s proven leadership and global energy experience on the INTERA Board, we are well positioned to address the needs of these markets,” said Marsh Lavenue, CEO of INTERA. “Bob’s extensive strategic planning, finance and operations experience in the oil and gas and mining industries is a major asset to us as we execute INTERA’s growth strategy. We are fortunate to have someone of his caliber and perspective on the Board” Malone was an Executive Vice President of BP P.L.C., at the time the world's second-largest oil and natural gas company, and a member of BP's Global Executive Management Team. He also was Chief Executive of BP Shipping Limited which is responsible for operating the energy industry's largest global oil and natural gas fleet. In his 37-year career Malone has held a series of senior positions with Kennecott Copper Corp., The Standard Oil Company of Ohio, The Carborundum Company and BP. Sloan Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received a master’s of science in management. He was named Distinguished Alumni of the Year by the University of Texas at El Paso in 2003. Malone is currently an independent director of the Halliburton Company, one of the world’s largest oil field service companies, and Peabody Energy Company, the world’s largest private sector coal company. He serves on the Compensation Committee and the Health Safety and Environment Committees of both these Boards. Malone also serves on the board of directors of the privately held First National Bank of Sonora, Texas where he is currently the president and CEO.  Malone will begin his board position with INTERA starting in March.
