For the past two years, INTERA has been providing technical and management expertise in support of Intercontinental Potash Corporation's (ICP) efforts to open a new potash mine in Lea County, New Mexico. INTERA's contributions have included coordinating the overall permitting requirements at the project and finding a suitable groundwater source to support mine operations. After identifying the Capitan Reef Aquifer as a potential source, INTERA has provided oversight for the drilling of two deep (˜5,000 feet) exploration wells and recently completed hydraulic testing of these wells to confirm that the aquifer is capable of providing water in adequate quantity and sufficient quality, to meet the mine's requirements.
