Wittman will be supporting strategic expansion of water supply engineering services in the Western U.S.

Austin, TEXAS — November 6, 2013 – INTERA, a leader in geosciences and engineering consulting, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Jack Wittman to INTERA’s water resources team. Dr. Wittman’s three decades of water supply experience includes municipal well field design, optimization, industrial water supply, cooling water for power plants and irrigation systems. He will support the expansion of INTERA’s water resources business in several key geographic areas in the Western United States. He will be located in a new INTERA office in Bloomington, Ind. “Jack’s technical expertise and business skills align well with the growth strategy we are executing.  He will serve a vital role in bringing a new set of water expertise to INTERA’s team, allowing us to meet the needs of our customers,” said Dr. Marsh Lavenue, CEO, INTERA. Prior to joining INTERA, Wittman was the national director of geosciences for Layne Christensen (LAYN), a global water management, construction and drilling company, where he led a team of scientists and engineers that specialized in well field design and impact analysis. In 2006, he was named in the Indiana Governors’ Drought Task Force and he continues to advise utilities and regulatory agencies on water supply planning and policy. “I have known about the modeling skills of INTERA for decades and the team is doing more important work now than ever before. Water supply development and high-capacity well field design diversifies the portfolio of the water resources group. I’m looking forward to getting started,” said Wittman. Wittman’s academic work focused on regional aquifer system, including the impacts of climate change on groundwater availability. He is one of the co-inventors of a patented method for simulating radial collector wells. Additionally, he has published papers related to levee seepage, collector wells and contaminant risk analysis for drinking water wells.
