Dr. Neil Deeds, PE, Vice President of INTERA’s Southern Region, was a panelist at the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts (TAGD) 10th Annual Texas Groundwater Summit in San Antonio, TX, held August 31 - September 2, 2021. The panel, which focused on Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR), also included Shauna Fitzsimmons Sledge of SledgeLaw Group PLLC , Brian Smith of Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District (BSEACD), and Charles Schoening of Arcadis North America. ASR is often proposed as a possible water supply strategy for load leveling and/or drought contingency. The panel provided an update on several ASR projects that have been recently permitted or that are applying for full permits in the next year based on demonstration programs. The objective of the panel discussion was to provide some practical lessons learned regarding bringing an ASR project past the feasibility stage and into operation.
