INTERA Incorporated has acquired Austin, Texas-based Cook Joyce Inc. (CJI), an environmental consulting firm established in 1983. The addition of CJI expands INTERA’s capabilities in the areas of environmental compliance and permitting related to air quality, stormwater, and wastewater quality, and waste management. INTERA and CJI have collaborated on numerous environmental projects in Texas over the last 30 years. The acquisition will enable INTERA to leverage CJI’s skills and services to municipal, state, and private sector clients across 13 US offices. The CJI team brings extensive expertise related to engineering design, environmental planning, permitting, policy, and compliance. CJI also has proven expertise in air pollutant emission calculations, air quality modeling, and compliance and permitting, which will enable INTERA to provide air permitting services to its industrial, mining, and government clients. The CJI team of 10 employees will establish a new environmental permitting group within INTERA’s Austin office and will be led by CJI President Jeff Glaser. “We’re excited about joining INTERA. We have enjoyed working with them over the years and this acquisition is a win for everyone involved. We value our client relationships and are happy that we will be able to enhance our service offerings to our long time and future clients,” Glaser said. “CJI and INTERA have maintained a strategic alliance in Texas for many years, which leveraged the specific and distinct skill sets of our two firms. This acquisition enables us to expand INTERA’s service offerings to the benefit of all our clients,” said Marsh Lavenue, President and CEO of INTERA. “The similar corporate cultures that INTERA and CJI share will help ensure the successful integration of our talented teams.” A press release regarding this acquisition is featured in the Austin Business Journal and is available HERE
