As a subcontractor to Molzen Corbin, INTERA led the environmental site investigation and remediation services at the proposed City of Belen Fire Station #1 (Replacement), located in Belen, New Mexico. The site won the 2020 American Council of Engineering Companies New Mexico (ACEC NM) Engineering Excellence Award in the Environmental Category. Molzen Corbin contracted INTERA to conduct site investigation activities to determine if any impact from petroleum hydrocarbons occurred at the Site during historical activities (automobile repair activities) and to conduct a geophysical investigation to determine if any relic underground storage tanks were present at the site. INTERA continued to provide consulting services to Molzen Corbin at the site as the fire station building construction was initiated in 2017 and completed in 2018. The successful completion of the site investigation and remediation activities by INTERA led to the redevelopment of a new, modern, efficient, resilient, and elegant fire station that will enhance public safety for the City of Belen for years to come. John Quinn Pate RA, RLA, Vice President of Architecture at Molzen Corbin stated, “Congratulations to the City of Belen for the commitment and sacrifice each and every one made to envision, fund, and accomplish this beautiful, award winning facility. We appreciate our enduring professional relationship with Belen and the opportunity to assist them to make this dream a reality.”
