INTERA is sponsoring a water-awareness event to be launched March 22, 2013. Shower Strike is an event created by Well Aware, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization formed in 2006 to provide life-saving water for those who have none. They are a grassroots group reaching out globally for a solution to the suffering caused by water scarcity in parts of East Africa. Well Aware is launching this 5th annual infamous Shower Strike on World Water Day, using volunteers across the globe who have vowed not to shower until they have each raised at least $1,000 each toward life-saving water systems in rural Kenya. Well Aware states on the event page, "For the people being helped, a clean drink of water is a luxury, and a shower is unheard of. It's the least we can do to skip our showers for a week, so that others can simply survive." For information on the Shower Strike Launch Party on March 22nd in Austin, Texas, click here.
