Avril Carter’s areas of expertise include water-quality testing, soil science, environmental policy, and agricultural research. She has conducted soil-water infiltration experiments, operated equipment used to analyze nitrogen compounds in biochar-applied soils, analyzed the effects of genetic variation on soybean yields via laboratory analyses and field simulation experiments, and implemented applied sustainability initiatives. Since joining INTERA, some of Avril’s efforts include evaluating water utility surveys, audit reports, and smart growth guidelines and initiatives to improve water use efficiency and address the future water demands infrastructure needs of municipal utilities. She has also supported the development of content for a new groundwater resource center website for an energy research organization.
