Kevin Gooding’s technical expertise includes groundwater resource evaluations and development; well drilling, installation, testing, and monitoring; environmental assessments and permitting; wetland restoration; environmental contamination issues; geotechnical evaluations associated with dam safety, rockfalls, and debris flows; and application of GIS. Kevin has managed teams of engineers, scientists, planners, community relations specialists, and technicians to successfully complete projects with budgets ranging from $10,000 to over $1,000,000. He is an expert in the groundwater systems of Hawai`i and has completed work on most of the major Hawai`ian Islands involving water supply well replacement, geothermal well plugging, canal water loss studies, development of regional and local water budgets, stream flow restoration, groundwater monitoring, dam improvements and spillway adequacy evaluations, and development of water resource information management systems. Kevin’s previous experience includes serving as a state geologist for the State of Hawai`i Department of Land and Natural Resources (Commission on Water Resource Management) and a hydrologist/geologist with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply where his efforts focused on statewide groundwater regulation and the protection of water resources on O`ahu.
