Miao Tian’s experience encompasses coastal modeling, nearshore processes, and sediment transport. He has conducted research involving the numerical simulation of the shoaling and breaking of tsunamis over a short-wave field, and investigated the nonlinear interaction of coastal infragravity waves. Miao has also simulated the coupling between internal solitary waves and gravity currents. In support of coastal engineering projects, he applies a wide range of numerical modeling tools such as SWAN, ADCIRC, Xbeach, ROMS, and is proficient in multiple programming languages, including Fortran, MATLAB, and Python.
