Ryan Nell brings applied and theoretical laboratory experience in geochemistry and environmental science, and research expertise in designing and executing experiments pertaining to heavy metal remediation using biotic systems. His experience includes collecting and analyzing data to evaluate metal fate and transformation in microbial ecosystems, developing standard operating procedures for fluorescent microscopy imaging of manganese oxidizing fungi, and preparing biological samples for x-ray adsorption spectroscopy analysis. He also led field data collection and analysis of dioritic rock samples for U-Th/He analysis. Ryan has presented the results of his work at conferences and authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta and Chemical Geology.
