Responsible for the UK business of INTERA, Patrick brings more than 30 years of international experience in delivering ground engineering and multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects. He is professionally qualified in geotechnical engineering and geology and has led large, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams on high profile infrastructure projects from pursuit through feasibility to design and construction. Patrick has directed multidisciplinary geoscientific site investigation programmes, including for the Hong Kong Government, the UK’s 2012 Olympic Park, Australia’s Sydney Metro, Crossrail, and the Lower Thames Crossing. These projects often entail exceptional stakeholder management and attract mainstream media requiring highly developed engagement strategies and actions. They also demand data acquisition strategies for optimal design and risk management to help mitigate development phase time and cost over-runs—a key area of expertise that clients rely on Patrick to deliver. Through experience that includes client, contractor, and consultant roles, he lends all perspectives to projects and develops the right one-team approaches to delivery. He has broad complimentary business and commercial skills centered on tight project management and direction using a detailed understanding of a wide range of disciplines, particularly across the geosciences areas for the infrastructure, environment, water, energy, and mining sectors. Patrick is active in the profession, as Chair of Think Deep UK, a think tank promoting better use of our underground space, and as a coach, mentor, and scrutineer of candidate Chartered Geologists.
