INTERA’s Dr. Abhishek Singh, PE, President, Water Resources and Supply and Principal Water Resources Engineer, will be moderating an Expert Roundtable at the SGMA Implementation Summit & Workshop held in collaboration by Groundwater Resources Association (GRA) of California and the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) Groundwater Committee and SGMA Implementation Subcommittee, to be held on June 7-8, 2023. The Expert Roundtable, which will take place on Day 1 (June 7) at 1:15 pm, will give attendees a chance to have intimate conversations with experts and fellow SGMA implementers. Preliminary topics include:

  1. Drought planning, management, and mitigation, and how it relates to SGMA planning
  2. Demand management/reduction – getting stakeholders and boards to agree on these topics
  3. Inter-connected surface water and depletions, technical and policy considerations
  4. Funding opportunities for capital projects and in-kind services for SGMA project implementation
  5. Well permitting – approaches to meeting Executive Order requirements
  6. Basin-wide well registrations and data – success stories
  7. Use of data and tools for management decisions and policy considerations
  8. Water markets and allocations: is it right for you?
  9. Streamlined and integrated permitting approaches across multiple regulatory entities (related to recharge projects)
  10. Outreach, engagement, and inclusion of Communities of Interest
  11. Subsidence – policy and management considerations
  12. Water quality – relationship of existing programs to SGMA undesirable results
