INTERA’s waste isolation experts bring distinguished careers and experience in meeting the licensing and regulatory requirements governing the disposal of radioactive and hazardous wastes, beginning in the late 1970s through present day. Our work includes working with federal regulatory agencies to develop some of the early radioactive waste disposal regulations and standards, and helping to define Performance Assessment (PA) methodology. This experience, and much more gained from work on international radioactive waste disposal programs, enables us to help develop successful compliance strategies and provide independent review of the technical analyses needed to meet USNRC, USEPA, and international standards and regulations. Furthermore, our experience working directly for implementing organizations, including national agencies, commercial industry, regulators, and organizations responsible for independent oversight, provides us with a broad-based perspective on disposal facility licensing and compliance.
